pressed against silence
pressed against silence
her silence shifts
cause she feels me in the air
like instinct wrapped in ghosted hate,
she turns her head sensing me near.
twisting her bracelet like it burns,
as though something in her still feels me,
is it her body betraying the words she denies,
or the betrayal woven in misery under her skin?
out and through the window we look,
because this is the closest i’ll ever get,
knowing those eyes stay vacant for me,
i live in the silence i’ll never forget.
